I bought crimson stunning stains shots to make my own stain for my guitar project by mixing them together in water. After trying to get a decent result without any clear instructions on the product (I followed YouTube tutorials) I applied the stain on the guitar but the result was horrible. The stains didn't mix well together (even after shaking them like crazy) and instead of having a kind of brown guitar I had the orange on top of the wood surface and the black deep in the wood grain. I waited for a day and sand my guitar down to get rid of this colour but the stains created a thick messy surface that was hard to sand because it was sticking to the sandpaper. After removing 1.5 millimeters of wood on each side of the guitar body (3mm in total) I had to remake the neck pocket and pickup cavities to match them with the new thickness of the guitar. I then bought a normal wood stain at my local store and the result was waaaay better. I then applied the crimson finish I bought but even after 24h drying the guitar was sticky and I had to clean it with lemon oil multiple times. I finally wrote a review of the stains shots on their website but they never published it. So don't trust their reviews because they are just selecting the good ones. Just go to your local store and buy a wood stain and a finish that seem decent to you, you'll be better off this way!

I’m updating a previous review that wasn’t positive because I had problems contacting them about an order that was missing. Eventually they reached back to me and they were very polite and couldn’t apologise enough about what happened. My order was shipped right away with extra items as an additional apology.
I received the order and the products are great.

5 star products, the fret stop is lovely thing to use and the fretboard conditioner and restorative don’t contain any petroleum distillates like many competitors. The fret rubbers are a game changer. My frets are now shinier than Ben’s head. 3 star delivery as they took three weeks to arrive.

Great supplier if luthier supplies and tools. Not to mention a school for learning guitar building or even just buying a custom guitar.
I’ve bought their stains and they are great leaving my guitars with such a beautiful colour!

Crimson is a fantastic company and I will recommend them to anyone looking for fine luthier tools, premium guitars, and a wonderful customer service. I have personally bought a large amount of their tools and they have all been of the same high quality without the premium price. Affordable, dependable, and without a question of the highest quality available! Leagues above StewMac in everything besides shipping, but hey.. it's coming from the UK and it's of a significantly higher quality.. well worth the wait of a few more days. Customer service is fantastic too. Any time I have contacted them I have heard back as quickly as possible considering the 6 hour time zone difference. The owner is a vintage tool junky who prides himself on producing and distributing tools he is putting to use himself and will last longer than a lifetime. Their YouTube channel is one of the most helpful and entertaining channels for any maker, woodworker or luthier of any skill level.. Check it out.

Bought some fret rubbers and their fretboard cleaner and conditioner. Shipping was fairly standard for something coming from the UK to the the US. The products I purchased are amazing however. The cleaner and conditioner are excellent and the fret rubbers give great results quickly.

Although I live in the US, through the wonders of modern technology, I feel like I know Ben and Crimson Guitars very well. During quarantine, thanks to Ben's videos, I decided to build a guitar. I got stains, penetrating oil, and fretboard cleaner and oil as well.
When my package arrived, unfortunately the black stain I had ordered had leaked quite a bit. The package smelled wonderful (yeah, umm, no). I altered my color scheme a little and emailed Crimson Guitars just to let them know that the international shipping had cause the bottle to leak. The staining portion of the build was already complete, but they were so nice and without asking, I received a replacement bottle of stain in the mail today. Wonderful customer service.
Although I don't need the stain right now, I will definitely be building another guitar and I will definitely be purchasing more items from Crimson Guitars. Although travel and a 3 month guitar building course are not feasible at this time, I will definitely be trying to figure out a way to make it to Crimson Guitars for a course.
Thank you.

Bought some lovely items from these guys recently, a handmade fret crowning file, fret erasers and some finishing oil. Not only did the products exceed my expectations, but they were beautifully packaged complete with crimson string wrapping each item. I also really appreciate the YouTube content, which has helped me in developing my own skills and inspiring me to push some boundaries creatively. Top folks, really great company and clearly a lot of love goes into their work. Thank you!

I've been following Ben's work for several years now. From planing workbench, cigar box guitars to scorpions on the wall, nothing is less than spectacular. In my Youtube geekiness for long years now never seen a business of such high level of competence with this amount of exposure and passion. I've went to South of England Guitar Show specifically to see the masters in person themselves. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Left 3 guitars for a setup and minor repairs and - in a hectic environment, to say the least! - I've got nothing less than prestige treatment on all of the guitars for a bargain and for less than a walk around the show. If you can, support this business for their passion and ambition.
